Allium schoenoprasum

Our chives grow to about 28cm and produce clusters of small white flowers with edible leaves. They produce a beautiful purple flower head to which the bees seem to be drawn. They self-seed and bloom fairly early in the season lasting well into July. Forming parts of the border by the fence, the strong garlic taste does not attract deer or elk. Commonly known as garlic chives the flavour is more like garlic than chives.
